Version 2026-10-13 — Contact: contact@stagescore.net

This policy applies to the StageScore apps for iPhone, iPad, Mac and Android, and to the StageScore web app at app.stagescore.net.

What we store locally
By default, StageScore stores your library, setlists, annotations and preferences on your device (in the app's local storage; in the web app, your browser's local storage and IndexedDB). That data does not leave your device unless you use optional cloud features.

StageScore Cloud (optional)
If you sign in and use cloud features, we process account identifiers (such as your email address and user ID), chart metadata, chart files you upload, policy acceptance records, and optional reports. This data is hosted via Google Firebase for the StageScore project and is used only to provide these features. It is not sold, and it is not used for advertising or tracking.

Google Drive (optional)
If you connect Google Drive, StageScore reads and writes a library sync file using tokens issued to your Google account. That file stays in your own Drive.

Page reader (reading a PDF page into notation)
From version 1.1, reading a page is done by StageScore's own reading service. It is optional and needs a free StageScore account and an internet connection. The first time, the app asks for your permission before sending anything. When you read a page:
• That page and a few pages of the same PDF (the pages around it and, the first time a PDF is read, about thirty pages spread through it, so the reader can tell how the book is printed) are sent over an encrypted connection (HTTPS) to the reading service, hosted on Google Cloud (Cloud Run) in the EU (Belgium).
• The pages are processed in memory and deleted as soon as the page is read. They are not stored, not kept in our logs, and never used to train or improve the reader. The reading (the notation) is sent back to your device and kept only there, unless you back it up to StageScore Cloud.
• To check that you are signed in, the request carries your account's sign-in token. To apply the daily allowance (currently 100 pages per account per day), we keep a daily counter keyed by a one-way hash of your user ID; it is deleted automatically after 3 days. Our server logs record the time, the outcome and that hash, never the pages, file names or song titles. Google Cloud's request logs also record each request's IP address and browser/app version, kept for 30 days for security.
Versions before 1.1 read pages on your own device, and nothing about the page is sent.

Helping improve PDF recognition (optional, off by default)
StageScore can turn PDFs and scans into editable notation. If you turn on Help improve recognition in Settings, then when you correct a recognized score, StageScore sends the original reading and your corrected notation, together with a reduced-size image of the page it came from. These contributions are sent anonymously: they are not linked to your account, and file names and document metadata are removed.
We use these contributions only to train and test StageScore's own recognition model. They are never sold, published, shown to other users, or shared with third parties for their own use, and they are stored securely via Google Firebase for the StageScore project. Only contribute pages you are allowed to share for this purpose.
You can turn this off at any time in Settings; nothing more is sent after that. Because contributions are anonymous, we cannot match them to you afterwards, but you can still contact us and we will help where we can.

Analytics and ads
StageScore does not use third-party advertising SDKs or analytics tools, and does not track you across apps or websites.

Your choices
• Use the app offline without an account. Only reading a PDF page into notation (from version 1.1) and the optional cloud features need an account and a connection.
• Disconnect Google Drive or sign out of StageScore Cloud at any time.
• Turn Help improve recognition on or off at any time in Settings. It is off unless you turn it on.
• Delete your StageScore Cloud account in the app under Settings → Account. This removes your cloud profile, personal cloud backup, community publishes you own, and Band Books you lead. Your local library on the device is separate: delete the app, or clear site data in the web app, to remove it.
• Or request deletion by emailing contact@stagescore.net.
